Adonija (Matt Hoyt) & Smoke Shoveler (Tom Thayer)
In conjuntion with their exhibition, I Want to Climb Through the Windows of My Eyes and Become Static Electricity, Matt & Tom present two tracks from their forthcoming cassette Adonija/Smoke Shoveler, to be released on Cardboard Mirror Records. In 1.3-A, Adonija (Hoyt) employs field recordings of gently lapping waves and the nocturnal chants of insects, layered beneath a lulling synthesized drone to create a dreamy, pastoral soundscape. Through Pendulum's Song, Smoke Shoveler (Thayer) brings us deep underground to a cavernous chamber, alive with echoing of bells and distorted vocals. Though vastly different in mood, style, and execution, the overlap in the tastes and influences shared by Matt and Tom is evident in this project.
